Current Events format

One signature aspect of the American Studies course is a connection to current events. On a rotating, alphabetical basis, one member of class will be responsible for posting a link to an American Studies-related article in a major news source before class each day, along with an accompanying paragraph in which you a) summarize the article and b) connect it to the essential question of the unit that we’re studying. (Refer back to your copy of the course policy to remind yourself of the essential question, if necessary.)

The final component of the current events post is a discussion question which you pose to the class. This discussion question should be interpretive or evaluative, not factual, and should be designed to engage the class in about 3-5 minutes of discussion.

Good luck, and have fun!
