Facing Fear;1940-1964
Throughout this time period, there was an uncomfortable feel for anyone that was gay. There were waves of more intolerance and some intolerance toward the LGBT society in this time period. There was the ability to create the first openly gay national publication, which was a good improvement. There was more aggression and opposition to LGBT through the 40's. There was a lot of intolerance directed toward LGBT and they were mostly alienated from the society. Although, in the early 50's, individuals from the LGBT were more open and more tolerance spread. The status for LGBT progressively got better, but there was still discomfort to be open. People began to be more open, and allow those who are gay to be involved in certain things, but still put restrictions on them. Towards the end, new entertainment methods were provided for LGBT, allowing more to feel comfortable and providing a safer environment. Through these years, LGBT has built up more courage and began to fight the discomforts of the society around them.
