Recently in Iowa, Florida, and Minnesota, 3 states that largely depend on agriculture as a way to support their economy, there has been a bill proposed. This new legislation would prevent people from places such as PETA or the Humane Society of the United States to go into farms that neglect their sanitation and regulations. Such filming would create an intense halt on bringing the best conditions about for animals to grow in order for them to be as healthy as possible for the consumer. Kevin Vinchattle, an executive at the Iowa Poultry Association claimed that those who currently videotape "might go further and stage fake videos, destroy equipment or carry diseases onto farms. He could not provide any examples of those things ever occurring."
Ultimately the question is, should people be able to have freedom of speech even if it impedes someone's freedom to provide for the economy? Especially in such economic times, how far should we go to protect our fragile economy?
