reflection on debate

The debate appeared to go well although a longer period of time devoted to the debate would have been helpful. Most people seemed to have read their documents but had not looked over the others, which is uderstandable but could have been helpful in debating against a point. Several times people forgot that we were in July of 1945, the two bombs had not been dropped yet.

The shotage of time hindered our abilities to express all the reasons behind our arguement. This was also hindered by the fact that a few students took control of the debate and did not allow others to speak. We also seemed to have a problem of interrupting each other which cost us some time as we attempted to untangle ourselves.

Based upon what I heard it appeared that the morality of the choice was not disputed by those for the drop. If the morality of the event was not questioned than it seems group 2 made its point and made it well or was ignored.

The class appeared to be really into the debate and had a good timewith it. The spliting of the documents into four groups seems unnecessary as groups two and four, three and one had the same goal the first two to stop the bomb and the latter two to get the drop.
