Manufacturing leads to people having more things than past generations. The rich employers no little to nothing about their workers, which leads to "rigid castes...and, as usual mutual ignorance breeds mutual distrust. Each caste is without sympathy for the other, and ready to credit anything disparaging in regard to it," (153). But still things are manufactured, and the process keeps on growing.
